Staged construction projects

Some large-scale projects may be planned to be delivered over multiple stages. For example, a stage could be the construction of one building in a group of buildings or one section of significant planned work on a single building.

Staged projects result in a series of building consents that are cumulative. The plans and specifications at each stage are required to include the building work approved in earlier stages.

You must have approval before applying for a staged building consent.

When you specify a staged construction as part of the application process, you must specify the stage number or name for the current application and the total number of stages in the complete project. Where there are previous stages, you must also provide the building consent number for the previous stage.
